How It All Began
I am seriously obsessed with fabrics and more these days as I work to grow our fabric database. We now have over 4,000 individual favorites, just waiting to be utilized in cool, interesting ways. I find myself spending hours looking for great fabrics that may work for upholstery, soft furnishings like pillows, and drapery. Not only are fabrics an essential variable when designing a space, they help set the tone and overall aesthetic along with the interior architecture and furniture style. So how did this idea of Custom Pillows come about? I was sitting on my backless sofa perusing the net, on my favorite fabric suppliers' website and then BAM, just like that the idea popped into my head, guys. I wasn't even looking for it. I was like "So I actually spend soooo much time looking for fabrics and am always thinking how absolutely gorgeous a particular one would look as a throw pillow. Why not help people realize their space with beautiful throw pillows that have been made with these cool fabrics?" My thought process went something like that. It's incredible how I didn't think of it before.
Custom Pillows — How It Works
In essence, the client comes to us with an inquiry of where they'd like to inject some new custom pillows, showing us their space and we'll take the client's vision to design pillows that blend in with their existing decor. We'll then set out to create a color concept board where we can illustrate the proposed color palette.

The best part is that fabrics will be selected based on the client's specifications such as pet or child friendly to ensure that the pillows look great and work with their lifestyle. This is our method of service:
Full Service Custom Pillows - Where Synonymous manages everything on behalf of the client from designing the pillows, to presenting fabrics and samples in the client's home or mailing samples for long distance clients, overseeing the production of the pillows in a workroom and finally packaging and shipping the complete creations. We visit the workroom to ensure the pillows are being made to their exact specifications as relative, conduct quality checks and finally ship the pillows (with our without inserts as specified by the client) to their home. This custom pillows service is great for clients in New York City or the surrounding areas as well as nationwide.

Fabrics
We work with designer fabrics from a variety of suppliers worldwide. Fabrics are priced based on their composition such as linen, silk, cotton or velvet and their method of production such as printed, hand block printed or weaved. Some luxurious fabrics undergo a series of technology filled methods to end up with an interesting finished effect, so it is important to understand that not all fabrics will be priced the same.
