Soft Underarms The Natural Way

Our underarms require a lot of attention because the skin there is very delicate and often ignored, leading to problems.  You'd be surprised at how many women skip caring for their pits the right way after hair removal or even on a day to day basis.  It is important people.  Not only must we slaves of beauty be worried about not smelling any rotten onion there, (sorry for the imagery), but we should also care to maintain the texture of them.  Pampering the delicate skin in our underarms should be a daily ritual if we are to shamelessly lift those arms or "go sleeveless" (no, this is not a Dove commercial).  Granted, I'm sure no one will actually go ahead and ask you "Hey, can I touch your underarms?" or maybe yes, who knows.  It hasn't happened to me.  Has it happened to you?  But that doesn't mean we must leave them feeling rough or stubbly or even unattended.  You can tackle all your underarm problems at home, naturally and daily with these simple tips.

Before We Begin - Hair Removal

If you're sporting the full on grown hair in your pits, that's cool, I've done it too.  But when you're ready to get rid of it, do it the right way.  Usually if your hair is very fine, and thin you can get away with shaving it, but only if.  Then, if you're like me and it is relatively course on the root, you're better off waxing so that you don't irritate the skin and stubbles don't show up a week later.  (I use the Gigi Brazilian Body Hard Wax with a wax warmer).  A clear underarm is actually a lot more easy to care for because all that hair in the way can really be annoying.  Also, you'll be more inclined to do so anyways.

Let's Begin - Step One To Soft Underarms

Scrub and exfoliate the heck out of those pits, chicas.  Although the skin is delicate as discussed above, that doesn't mean it can't handle some hard core buffing.  Daily.  Yes.  This eliminates dead skin cells, and ultimately polishes any roughness there.  It also gets rid of any residue from your deodorant which causes more harm than good.  Your soapy hands alone are not enough to get them squeaky clean.  You need a tool.  An exfoliating glove, for example.  Do be gentle doing this everyday.

Another gentle alternative for those days you don't want to feel the scratchy gloves could be a natural sea sponge.  I love this stuff and the one I have is the best one I could find.  Large, soft and incredibly absorbent.  A bit of my hair here and there, yes, but still amazing.  Please excuse that.  Ajaja!

  • Underarm Scrub - If you have the time, apply a homemade scrub using equal parts baking soda + coconut oil + cornstarch (I make enough to fill a pint size jar).  To this I like to also add a few drops of lavender and lemon essential oils.  By the time I've removed it, my underarms smell delicious enough to sniff all day and night.  I like to use this every other day so I keep it near the shower.

Step 2

Moisturize them like there's no tomorrow and when tomorrow comes, do it again. Continuously.  Every night after you've properly gotten rid of your deodorant, and after you've exfoliated your underarms follow up with a hydrating moisturizer.  If I happened to use my homemade scrub I may skip this step but usually I still always apply my underarm moisturizing serum regardless.

  • Underarm Moisturizing & Lightening Serum- Fractionated Coconut Oil (regular coconut oil is fine, it'll just be a bit denser) + Vitamin E gel + 1 drop each of lemon and sweet orange essential oils (you can omit these if you wish or add your favorite essential oils).  Use daily. (I apply it at night when I'm not wearing deodorant).

Et Voila.  That's all I do for soft and smooth underarms.  I find myself touching them constantly because they are just sooo soft.  I love it.  With these simple tips, now you can have beautiful, glowing underarms too.

I also do prefer natural deodorants since their natural ingredients are usually herbal and fruit extracts with a base of amazing natural moisturizers.  None of those annoying, fake chemicals and additives that can cause your underarms to get irritated or dark.  I love my Lavilin Deodorant Cream for this.
