Teen Rooms On TV
Let's continue our snooping around, shall we? I just can't get enough of interiors these days, and I am talking the ones found on tv shows.
Remember Flower Arrangements Found on TV? Today, let's discuss teenage rooms. Granted, some of the coolest, bright, airy and oh, so adolescent appropriate rooms are found right on your tv....shows, that is.
It is just something about how these designers really capture the theme. Enough chatter and lets get right into the eye candy.
Warning: Ignore the dramatic scenes with the actors. Focus on their surroundings instead :)
The walls of this bedroom are crisp white, the ideal contrast to the bright yellow of the duvet and the dark richness of the accent wall behind the bed. Another thing that works very well in this room is the clear glass desk table that is not only stylish, but chic letting in a lot of cool reflection to this sophisticated, yet edgy boys room. I found a beautiful similar desk HERE
Loving that mid century modern media console or dresser. Find a similar one HERE.
I found the exact same Climbing Man Wall Sculpture HERE . Now that's something very cool.
To add a bit more masculinity to this bright yellow duvet, a dark grey or black throw blanket was set by the foot of the bed. This also ties in with the dark grey accent wall.
If it proves to be difficult to recreate this lovely custom, built in bookcase seen on the accent wall, simply add shelving above the bed (can serve as a headboard too).
I really like the modern take the alphabet gets in this room. Adding the "abc" is not just a little kid's room design choice, you can also add it to another space by making the letters more graphic, and spacing them out randomly.
A Chic Football Fanatic
This room's theme is football. The designer was able to incorporate posters, quotes ("eat, sleep & football" seen on the poster above the desktop computer) and football gear to really score a touchdown on this design. However, notice how it is not over the top cheesy or childish. Instead, using colors like grey, black, white and blue as the main colors (seen on the bed + posters + walls) and later with a pop of red and orange here and there, it really creates a sophisticated, yet teen appropriate room centered on a sport.
In this particular bedroom, the bed area was divided from the "office/workspace" by using a shelving unit as a divider. Clever idea! Similar item found HERE.
Display collectables, books, cool gear or sculptures on floating shelves above the bed. Similar found HERE.
In Love With Music
Another sophisticated take on the themed bedrooms. In this music lover's paradise of a bedroom, the designer incorporated things like record players, cropped music posters and instruments to really set the stage. The main colors here are grey, white and yellow. The wood toned accent wall behind the bed works great with the crisp white walls. I love the contrast.
Football & Surfing Themed
Go wild. Go bold. Go all out with the themes, in this case two of them. The bold accent walls and furniture (I'm looking at the lacquered finished RED side table) are really empowering and youthful although not ridiculous or over the top.
Bold Red Polka Dots
Wow! What a clever use of space and color. We have red, muted greens, yellow, white, gold.
This room really captures what it means to combine patterns the cool, modern way. We have chevron, polka dots and stripes all in the same space. Also, the sitting area is a great component to a teen's bedroom, where they could sit, read a book or converse with friends.
The red, lacquered desk table ties in with the red polka dots from the walls to really fuse the two together and create a cohesive look.
Serene & Girly
This room is definitely girly, but sophisticated. The periwinkle colored walls along with periwinkle colored wallpaper is a very bold move. Pops of yellow-green from the duvet, accent chair by the window and finally of the frames above the bed continue to tie in all the colors together.
Notice how there is also a very unexpected pop of red, (seen on the lampshades) that is actually a great contrast to the other colors.
What These ALL Have In Common
- Defined desk/worksapce area
- Area Rug
- Accent chair
- Bookcase or Shelves to display "interests"
You might have noticed that a lot of these "sets" have the same furniture pieces. This is because these screenshots were taken from shows that belong to the same TV company (Telemundo). The set designers from these shows, at times, work with the same furniture throughout their distinct shows. I am imagining they have a HUGE warehouse to store the decor and furniture used for their shows, which I find incredibly cool. I really like how each room has a different personality and a different feel to it despite having the same pieces repeated throughout.
The two girl bedrooms have the same exact area rug. Did you catch that? They also have the same exact room configuration (notice the builtins by the window..?) Yep, exactly the same between the two rooms. The difference is that the beds were located in different positions and the walls were painted a different colors (These are two different shows, by the way). Also, in the girl's periwinkle room there is the honeycomb bookcase you can see in the "In Love with Music" room.
